North Carolina Telehealth
Therapy in North Carolina
A steady hour of counseling by secure video, wherever you live in North Carolina. No commute and no office to reach, just a private place to speak plainly about what is happening.
Across the State
The same practice, wherever you are.
North Carolina holds several different worlds within one state. Life in a fast-growing city can feel far removed from life in a mountain community, a coastal town, or a rural county. Work, family, traffic, distance, and access to care take different forms depending on where you live. Telehealth makes one part of the decision simpler. You can work with the same counselor without adding a long drive to an already full week.
James Revels, MA, LCMHC, is licensed in North Carolina and provides counseling only to people who are located in North Carolina at the time of the session. The practice is entirely online. There is no office in Charlotte, Raleigh, Durham, Asheville, or elsewhere in the state, and the city pages below do not suggest otherwise. They are here to help you understand how the work may fit the particular pressures of the place you call home.
After fifty years of clinical practice, James brings an unhurried way of listening to adults facing anxiety, grief, depression, trauma, burnout, relationship difficulty, and questions of meaning or direction. The work does not begin with a promise about where you should end up. It begins by paying close attention to what is true now.
Who This Is For
When distance should not make the choice for you.
You may be looking for counseling after a move within North Carolina, or trying to find room for it around work that does not stop neatly at five. You may live in a place with few nearby options, divide your time between parts of the state, or simply prefer to speak from your own home. Telehealth can remove the travel without making the hour feel hurried.
It can also help when your life looks settled from the outside but does not feel settled from within. A career may be going well while sleep thins out. A relationship may be intact while the same conversation keeps returning. You may have reached a transition that asks questions your usual competence cannot answer. These are ordinary reasons to look for a place where you do not have to perform being fine.
You do not need to arrive with a polished explanation. A first conversation can begin with what has become difficult, what keeps repeating, or what you have been carrying alone. From there, the work develops at a pace that respects both the problem and the person living with it.
The Practical Shape
A full hour, held consistently.
Sessions are 60 minutes and cost $180. Appointments are available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and booking takes place through Headway. You join by video from a private location in North Carolina. There is no local office visit to coordinate and no city-specific rate or schedule.
The hour may include dialogue, mindful attention, cognitive work, or a short guided practice, depending on what you bring and what is useful. The approach is not a fixed sequence applied to everyone. It is a collaborative process grounded in presence, self-observation, and honest conversation.
The city guides below offer a more local frame for that same statewide practice. They speak to the work, movement, history, and changing rhythms that shape daily life in twenty-three North Carolina communities, without suggesting that the practice has an office in any of them.
Scope of Care
North Carolina, by telehealth only.
James is licensed in North Carolina only. You need to be physically present in North Carolina for a session. The practice does not offer in-person appointments, street addresses, or local city offices.
This is not a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger, call or text 988, call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room.
James does not treat addictions or eating disorders. When either is the primary concern, he will refer you to a specialist rather than work around it.
