Who I Help
When everyone looks to you for the answer.
Seniority can bring influence, responsibility, and a particular kind of solitude. The person who appears most composed may have the fewest places to speak freely.
The Weight of Seniority
Some decisions cannot be shared.
As responsibility grows, the circle of people with whom you can be completely candid often becomes smaller. Colleagues need direction, employees watch your steadiness, and family members may assume that competence at work means you are fine everywhere else.
You may spend the day making decisions nobody else can make, then discover that your mind keeps working long after the meetings end. The problem is not simply a full calendar. It is the accumulation of consequence, uncertainty, and attention that rarely receives attention in return.
Appearing fine can become part of the role. It may protect a team or preserve confidence, but it can also make your own life difficult to read. Counseling offers a private place where the presentation can stop and the actual cost can be examined.
What People Bring
Success does not settle every question.
Some people arrive with burnout: sleep growing thinner, patience shorter, and work that once felt absorbing now feeling mechanical. Others bring anxiety disguised as preparation, or a low mood that seems confusing because nothing obvious has gone wrong.
There can also be an identity question. If you have organized decades around being useful, decisive, or exceptional, it may be difficult to know who you are when work changes, a title loses meaning, or the next promotion no longer feels like an answer.
Relationships can carry the overflow. You may be physically present and mentally elsewhere, quick to solve what a partner wants you to hear, or reluctant to reveal uncertainty because your professional life rewards certainty. These are understandable habits, and they can still be costly.
How We Work
Clear, practical, and more than strategic.
We can think carefully about patterns without turning therapy into another performance review. Cognitive work helps identify the private rules underneath the pressure: never disappoint anyone, anticipate every risk, remain indispensable, or make no decision that cannot be defended later.
We also pay attention to what happens beneath analysis. I begin every session with conversation, taking time to meet and hear from you. When it helps, a short guided practice can make room to notice tension, fatigue, or urgency before explaining it away. That information often matters as much as the story you can tell about it.
I work directly and collaboratively. You do not need to simplify the complexity of your work, and you do not need to impress me with how well you are managing it. The aim is an honest conversation about the life the role is serving.
The pace leaves enough room to think without turning reflection into one more demand for immediate performance.
Practical Details
A consistent hour without a commute.
I bring 50 years of clinical practice to this work. Sessions are 60 minutes by secure video and cost $180. Appointments are available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and scheduling takes place through Headway.
I am licensed in North Carolina only, and you must be physically present in North Carolina during each session. The practice is entirely telehealth. There is no office, business-district location, street address, or in-person appointment to imply.
I do not treat addictions or eating disorders. When either is the primary concern, I refer to an appropriate specialist. A consultation can help us discuss fit, scheduling, and whether this approach makes sense before you decide how to proceed.
